Casino... Bet on it being part of Singapore soon
K, the great topic for the Singapore government for this few months are on the casino issue. A lot of boo-has has been made; Channel New Asia Channel had Diana Ser go to Macau to interview people there, ask them abt life n how the casino industry has affected their living. Channel U set up forums n got people out there to talk abt their views. They even got doctors n professors from uni to give their two cents worth on this issue. Even the Straits Times have printed endless letters on this casino topic. It seems like everyone in Singapore have something in mind including mw… My views? Just FUCK it!
The gambling business has always bought in a lot of revenues for countries that are willing to legalize them. Look at our own Singapore pools, even Jack Neo says it right when he say that they are the biggest gambling organization. Singapore POOL-IES!!!
I guess it has always been human nature to want something without actually working for it. I am for one, a wonderful example to this case. I love gambling to bits; I always queue up at Singapore pools outlets that seem to be everywhere nowadays to buy my ToTo Tickets. I mean I know why Singaporeans love to gamble so much. U take a trip down to Shenton Way and also Raffles City during lunchtime and u can see how many people are actually working their butts off. Dressed up in their power suits, looking clean-shaven n smelling nice, they look like a million bucks. But at the end of the day, most of them just earn peanuts. Life in Singapore is fast paced n super tough, I mean, look at 20 yrs ago, 1985 then only a handful of people are Degree holders, people like them earn a lot for their time. My dad, though only an O’ level holder was still able to make a decent living. Fast forward to 2005, almost 50% of the populations under the age of 30 are degree holders; some already got their doctorates n MBAs. Degree holders have an average pay of $1600 n above. I mean, we wasted so many years to study just to earn this tiny piece of shit?! What the fuck right? So we all dream of striking it rich n so we go buy our 4Ds n TOTOs, hoping that on draw day, we are the lucky ones. N who else profits from this? Of course it’s the bookies. Luckily the government controls ours so the money is most likely pumped back to the society though many ways. (Singapore’s government is 1 of the highest paid. ex PM Goh was paid an estimated wage of 50 grand per month. Take note that George Bush, the “most powerful” man in the world is only taking back US 100 grand per year.)
SO…. At end of the day, my guess is that the casino decision is going to be a YES! I mean, isn’t it obvious to u pea-brains out there? For so many years, the government never say they want to incorporate a casino in our billion-dollar tourist industry n yet now, they are thinking of it? I bet (no puns intended) they thought of it long ago, just that they knew Singaporeans couldn’t handle the fact that this is going to be a reality so they shelved the plans. But after the Sars episode in late 2003, after our economy has been hay wired, jobs are being out sourced to other cheaper countries like Thailand n China. And also the sorry fact that tourists ain’t coming to Singapore in numbers like they used to, our government knew that to plug this loss of outflow of money, a casino will be the solution. But how were they going to convince the public that a casino is good for us? Well…
I have to admit it, our government isn’t any dumb ass, and so they decided to throw the problem to us instead. They simply announced our problem: “ Singapore is losing lots of tourists revenue to other countries in Asia cos we ain’t dun have any Casino” Solution: “Build One ourselves, But what abt the social issues? ” So that why everyone is talking abt this issue. The government gave us 1 whole year to express our feelings, let our thoughts come out. Extensive media coverage to show that they really care abt this issue more than anyone else but u know what? I think its all BULLSHIT! They are giving us a false impression of empowerment; like wat ever we say will make a fucking differences. Cos at end of the day, THE CASINO IS HERE TO STAY!!!! And u know wat? I juz want the government to bring it on, cos come opening day of the casino, I am going to find a seat to rest my big fat ass on and take on the house. Gambling my money away cos like they always say “No risk no gain”.
Anyway to gamble or not is our own choice, dun blame the government for providing the temptations. If u really want to gamble, even if the casino is in genting highlands also people will take bus there to gamble. So hopefully Singaporeans will grow up n learn to live in this changing environment. Dun expect the government to treat us like babies, ALL U PIECES OF SHIT!
That’s all folks for today… till the next blog….
P.S if the government decides not to build the casino like wat I have bet on, drop me a sms or msg, I buy u a drink. Cheers
