My Ah Gong aka Mr LIM ENG KIAT
Hi folks, i back today for another boring topic. Remember that i spoke abt death juz 2 or 3 months back? Well, death has knocked at my door n took my grandfather...
More abt my grandfather, Mr Lim Eng Kiat, aged 82. He is one of the most active man in the world, even at his age he still make his way to work every week day. Without fail, he would wake up at 5 plus, do his stretching exercises n go off to work. Why does he go to work? Well, its not that my uncles n aunties dun give him money but juz that he doesn't like to stay at home. I guess if ur wife is like my grandma, no one would also want to stay at home. haha.... He declared to us " I want to work till i die" well, he did literally go on to do so...
Between 12 to 15 jan this year, i got a call from my uncle, asking me to visit grandpa at Changi General Hospital, i was told that he was ill. Of course i went down to take a look... When i reached the hospital, i saw his frail old body lying on the hospital bed. He was wearing an oxygen mask, tied to a urine bag. Doctors comfirmed he suffered from a stroke. His left side of the body was affected, my relatives still joked that me, being a medic should stay behind to look after him. I mean, not that everyone was rude to Ah Gong, juz that everyone believed that Ah Gong will recover. We all know him as a tough old bugger of little words. He didn't talk much, i always remember him asking me to study hard. He juz talk the talk n walk the walk. I respected him a lot cos he bought up 7 kids which are my 4 uncles, 2 aunties and my dad up. He toiled all his life n yet i never hear him grumple once...
Well, i guess life's a bitch sometimes, n anyway we all have to die one day, i guess it was juz his time. AH GONG, HAVE A GOOD JOURNEY. I SEE YOU WHEN I GET THERE. LOVE N RESPECT COS U WILL STAY IN ALL OUR HEART FOREVER.
